Success Stories

The Houceks
"They made the design work. They made the timing work. They made the price work. A hurricane could go through here, and the house might fall, but the deck would stand, and that's what I wanted.  "
Jeff
"We purchased our home with plans for a substantial renovation. The professionals at Artisans of Atlanta completely renovated every part of the home, no part went untouched. Working with Matt and Artisans of Atlanta was nothing but positive, and they were intimately involved with every step of the project. You know the work is being done the right way, with special attention paid to every detail, and we couldn't be happier with the end product."
Marc & Michele
"We gave Matt a tour of our home and what we are looking for. He was very in tune with what we were hoping to accomplish for the renovation. We originally asked to have our kitchen renovated and then that turned into another story, a new roof, new dormers, new gutters, we replaced all the windows, a master bedroom expansion.  The way Matt runs his team, there is not a single person you don't know the name of and know them a little bit. So, there’s a great comfort of having those folks in your house. We had a vision in mind when we bought this place and Matt helped us get to where we wanted to go."
Jason & Sylvia
"Matt and the Architects were able to look at our home and have a vision for it. They told us they can take this and really make something, make it a home, make a beautiful home out of it. It was basically an entire home renovation and a second-story addition, that morphed into doing a shed. So, it was an entire home rebuild basically. Every Thursday, we had a team come and inspect our home; they would troubleshoot things and plan the renovation. After a year of work, they became family. Going from the house that we had before to what it is now was phenomenal. I think it’s timeless. I think in 30 years, somebody can walk in here and say, “You know what I can still live here,” so yeah, I love it."
The Iversons
"My first impression of Matt Johnson gave off a very comfortable feeling to me, very straightforward, very much a family guy. We felt that our plans were very heard, ideals were added to them, which we loved. They listened to us. The questions they did ask were very pointed and on target. The space itself felt closed in, so we asked Matt and his team how can we make it feel more open. They worked very well with our architect. Matt’s team is very good at getting in touch with you and saying we ran into this issue, we found a solution, we want to check with you. We felt very comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to a minute to say I would recommend them. They did quality work and I would use them again for any other project that we had for our home. You will not have to worry and you will come out with what you wanted if not more."

"AOA and project manager David completed a kitchen remodel for us. It was a great experience! A few reasons why I would definitely use them again: Owner Matt was great to work with from the original meeting and quote to final payment. A few additions were added throughout the project and Matt quickly added changes and detailed quotes on those additions each week."

"Matt and his team renovated our kitchen, powder room, and master bath beginning in March of this year. In spite of the disruption from the pandemic, Artisans completed the job on time and on budget. Their carpenters and painters have an attention to detail that is not easy to find in the industry. At the end of each day the job site was neat and tidy. We moved into a spotless, practically new, old home. Perfection! Thank you Artisans."

"Every home owner knows how difficult it is to find a quality contractor. Truly, It is very rare that I meet another home owner who is actually willing to recommend a contractor who had previously worked on their home. Prior to meeting Matt, I myself would never feel comfortable recommending those who had worked on my home previously..."

"Artisans of Atlanta, led by Matt Johnson, turned our small, crowded kitchen into a beautiful, roomy, working kitchen and we are very pleased. Matt gave us our choice of companies to find cabinets, appliances, flooring, backsplash, etc. and, despite the problems that the pandemic generated, Artisans created a workable contract and execution of same. The project manager, David Flynt, communicated throughout the project so that I knew exactly what to expect on a daily/weekly basis. I highly recommend Artisans of Atlanta."

"Matt and his team are fantastic to work with. We had weekly meetings with our construction staff which were so helpful and important when managing the process. It is very rare to find a humble guy that does such great work. Everyone in our neighborhood was so impressed with his work that he has already gotten other jobs in Historic College Park. He gets old homes, new homes and everything in between. I would use him again in a heart beat."

"After interviewing 10 home remodeling companies and reviewing the quality of their work, we new that Artisans of Atlanta was the right company for our project. Everyone wants the three things when it comes to renovation, cheap, fast and good but realistically you can only get two of the three. We wanted fast and good and we were extremely pleased with the quality, timeliness of our project. The professionalism of the employees provided was excellent. We had no qualms about Artisan working in our home while we were away. They cleaned up after every day’s work which made it easier for us to live through the renovation. We would recommend them to anyone and would use them again on future projects."

"Our kitchen remodel went very smoothly. The subcontractors that Artisans used were excellent. They arrived when they said they would, preformed top quality work, and kept the work site clean. The owner, or a representative of Artisans, stopped by the site every day to make sure that project was going as planned. The project was competed in the time schedule promised. My kitchen is now a show piece of the house."

The work quality was excellent and they stayed within the budget that was set in the beginning. "I contracted AOA to help me transform my newly purchased 1950 bungalow into a contemporary 2-story modern home and the results are absolutely incredible. I have so many random people coming up to the house asking to take pictures. I'm especially happy with Matt's attention to details at every step of the project. I also appreciate his being always happy to work with me on the many and many plan changes I keep making. I would hire AOA for any future home projects without second thoughts."

1

Discussion of Ideas (Consultation)

At this stage we discover what your home needs are, what is working and what’s not working. We listen to all your ideas and how our team of artisans can provide an incredible building experience. We discuss whether you have already obtained architectural plans or need Artisans to provide design services. We talk about your timeline and dive into an initial budget discussion for the project.

2

Preliminary Budget Proposal & Design

Whether you need design services or just construction will determine if we draft a design agreement or a preliminary budget proposal. We are able to provide architectural services under our fixed-fee design agreement. If you just need construction, we provide an initial budget proposal for the project to help determine if the investment level is right for you. We believe in providing an accurate up-front “ballpark” number to help finalize the scope and design.

3

Planning & Scope

We love planning and working out details! We believe the success and ultimate experience you have is directly impacted by how much time is spent up-front finalizing selections and scope, making decisions, identifying unknown conditions and conducting team site visits. The initial budget number is fully detailed into line-item pricing for the entire job and our construction contract is signed. We put together a week-by-week project schedule with our commitment to work on the project every day until completion.

4

Construction

During the construction phase, we supply a very detailed schedule, as different trades come in and perform their tasks. We give constant updates on progress, clearly documenting decisions we may need along the way. Our homeowners are usually living in the home at the time, so there's exceptional attention to dust control, protecting possessions, and ensuring access to go about their daily lives.

Completion

We look forward to this as much as you do, seeing the happiness homeowners experience when the job is done. There is no greater satisfaction than to have a team of devoted craftsmen and a homeowner accomplish the execution of a great plan! The camaraderie and resulting bond built with the homeowner and Artisans of Atlanta is what we enjoy most of all; we love seeing how happy our devoted clients are! We perform a final walk through to develop a “completion list,” which then closes out the project. Our warranty covers all levels of labor and materials for two years.
